The satellite operates in the orbital position of 11° West longitude. Operating beyond its design lifetime, it successfully provides a wide range of communication and broadcasting services.
The launch of the spacecraft on 11 February 2009 became an important component of Russia’s dynamic development in the field of information technologies and communications.
Express-AM44 was based on a sealed platform, which Siberian satellite builders improved in the course of the project. New technical solutions made it possible to reduce the weight of the structure and service systems of the spacecraft.
“Express-AM44 is equipped with high-powered transponders and redirectable antennas, which provided additional opportunities for satellite communication operators. A total of 27 transponders operating in Ku-, C- and L-bands are installed on the spacecraft.
The guaranteed active life of the spacecraft is 10 years.
